70s-flavoured rocker Aislinn Young releases her sophomore single ‘Heavy Sound’ - a brooding and raw track that showcases a masterful understanding of the songwriting craft. Following on from ‘Down Your Lane’ - her 2018 debut tune - ‘Heavy Sound’ captures the no-nonsense power of a jangly guitar and emotionally driven vocals drawing comparison to Neil Young or Fleetwood Mac.

The enigmatic multi-instrumentalist, who has been packing out venues around Sydney purely through word-of-mouth, reflects on the song’s composition as a semi-cathartic way of wrangling with the demons in her head.

Her shine on stage, backed by psych outfit Narla, is impressive. The group builds whirring tornadoes of sound, with Young’s soaring vocals guiding onlookers on a rock and roll odyssey that blends heartbreak and distortion like no other.
